One-on-one meditation coaching for seniors

A calm, personal half-hour over video — learning to settle the mind, ease stress, and rest in a little quiet. No experience needed, and nothing to prove. Just you, a steady voice, and time to breathe.

No experience, no commitment — just a gentle place to begin.

What this is

A real person, sitting with you

Meditation is one of the simplest, kindest things you can do for an unsettled mind — and it's far easier to begin than most people expect. But beginning alone, from an app or a video, is where many people quietly give up.

This is the opposite of that: a real person, sitting with you over Zoom or FaceTime, guiding you gently through the practice and answering your questions as they come. We go slowly. We start wherever you are. And there's never any pressure to "do it right" — the returning of a wandering mind is the practice, not a sign you're failing at it.

Two ways to practise

Choose whichever suits you, and switch any time.

Some people come purely to learn and deepen a meditation practice. Others want the calm and the company.

Guided meditation sessions

A focused 45 minutes of learning and practising together — breath, body awareness, and simple techniques you can carry into daily life. Ideal if your main aim is to build a real, lasting practice with someone to guide you.

Meditation companion sessions

A gentler blend: a shorter guided practice to settle, followed by warm, unhurried conversation. You get the calm of meditation and the comfort of company in a single visit — lovely if solitude has been weighing on you.

A note from Harlan

Why I teach this

I've practised meditation for fifteen years. It began as a way through a restless period in my own life, and it became something steadier — a daily returning to quiet that has shaped how I meet hard days ever since. I've sat with teachers in India, kept up a practice through years of travel and work in remote places, and learned, slowly, how much it helps simply to sit.

I'm not a guru, and I won't pretend to be. I'm someone who has walked this path for a while and would be glad to walk a little of it with you. Reach out, and let's begin gently.

Questions

Everything you're probably wondering.

Do I need any experience with meditation?

None at all. Most people start as complete beginners. I guide everything step by step, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What's the difference between the two options?

Guided meditation sessions focus on learning and practising. Meditation companion sessions blend a shorter practice with warm conversation — so you get both calm and company in one visit.

Is this religious?

No. The practices are secular and welcoming of any background or faith. They're simply about attention, breath, and calm.

Is this a substitute for medical or mental health care?

No. Meditation coaching is a wellbeing practice, not therapy or medical treatment. It works best alongside professional care, not in place of it.

Meditation coaching is offered as a wellbeing practice and is not medical or mental health treatment. If you're managing a health condition or experiencing persistent low mood or anxiety, please also speak with your doctor.
