For families of lonely parents

Your mom deserves someone to talk to.

You can't always be there. But someone can. A Chapter Together pairs your parent with Harlan — a real person, not an AI — for a weekly one-on-one video visit. Real conversation, real presence, and shared reading if they'd like. So the days feel less long, and you can breathe a little easier.

No card required. If it's not the right fit, there's nothing to cancel.

How it works

Three steps, nothing complicated

1

Tell us about them

A short form — their name, what they enjoy, how they prefer to connect. It takes about five minutes.

2

A free first visit

Harlan meets your parent by video. 45 minutes, no cost, no commitment. Just a chance to say hello.

3

A visit to look forward to

Same person, same day, same time. They talk, they read together if they'd like, and it grows into something real over the months.

What a visit looks like

Not a service. A relationship.

There's no script and no checklist. Some visits are about a book — Harlan reads aloud, they pause to talk about what they've read, and the story becomes shared ground. Other visits are just conversation: the garden, the grandchildren, the news, whatever's on their mind. What matters is that someone shows up, consistently, and is genuinely glad to see them.

This isn't an AI chatbot. It isn't a gig worker dispatched by an algorithm. It's one person — Harlan — who remembers what your parent said last week, who notices when something's off, and who cares enough to ask.

Harlan, founder of A Chapter Together

A note from Harlan

Since I was young, most of my friends have been older than me. I love listening to histories, stories, and the lessons that come from the older generation. I've learned from my older friends that finding someone who will really listen — someone who actually cares what they have to say — is hard to come by.

I appreciate you trusting me with your parent. Reach out, and let's get them connected.

Simple, honest pricing

No subscriptions, no contracts

Your parent's first 45-minute visit is free. If they enjoy it, ongoing visits are $60 per session, scheduled as often as you'd like. Lower rates are available on 4-session and 12-session plans.

Questions families ask

You're not the first to wonder

What if my parent isn't comfortable with video calls?

That's exactly what the free first visit is for. We go at their pace, and Harlan will help however he can to make it easy. Most people are comfortable within minutes — it's a conversation, not a tech demo.

Is this an AI or a real person?

A real person — Harlan. Every visit is a live, one-on-one video conversation. No chatbots, no avatars, no algorithms.

Can I get updates after each visit?

Yes, with your parent's permission. After each session you'll receive a short, warm note — not a clinical report, more the kind of update a friend might send. Enough to know how they were, and often enough to give you something real to bring up next time you call.

What if they have early-stage memory challenges?

Harlan is experienced in gentle, reassuring conversation and never relies on anyone's ability to remember prior sessions. If more clinical care is needed, he'll say so honestly.

Do they have to read? What if they just want to talk?

Reading is completely optional. Many visits are just conversation — about their week, their family, the news, whatever's on their mind.

How is this different from what's already out there?

Most "companion" services for seniors are either AI chatbots, robot devices, or agencies that send a different person each time. This is one real person — Harlan — who shows up every week, remembers your parent's stories, and builds a genuine relationship over months.
